I saw the mick hit his last home run at yankee stadium. He was playing first base in that game and after he hit the home run, when he came out to take the field the following inning, a fan ran onto the field and bowed down in front of mantle at his feet. Mickey laughed and security took the fan off the field.
Who did the mick hit his last reqular season home run off of?

Writing this on a Sunday morning having done some internet searches to read about the Mick. Growing up in the Bronx in the 60s, he was the definition of a hero for all of us in that era. As we became middle aged adults his heroics became more apparent in 1995 with his self effacement … nothing he could say about himself and his failings could change what he meant to us and never will. We were lucky to have a hero growing up, could use someone like him for all of us today.
