My idol. Mickey Mantle WAS THE BEST ALL AROUND BALLPLAYER EVER.
Who was the only Yankee player to wear # 3 & # 7 uniform????
Recently watched the film of Don Larsen’s World Series perfect game played on 10/08/56. Even when Mantle swung and missed 65,417 people OOOO’d and AAAA’d. Compared to Mantle, every other player in that game swung the bat and ran in slow motion.
When he took batting practice, the sound was so much different from everyone else that every player from both teams stopped what they were doing and stood there watching. (partly from fear of being killed by a line drive)
